Ivana Poláčková
Ivana Poláčková joins the PLUS Change project to represent the field of environmental education.
I studied environmental science at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Comenius University in Bratislava and since 2000 have worked on various environmental education projects at the non-profit organisation, Živica. I have experience working in education and the business sector, and currently also manage the outdoor learning platform, Hurá von.
What community or organisation are you representing in the project?
Živica is a civic association of 35 people that seeks to inspire to change. We want to help create a world in which society is respectful and sensitive to people and nature and the world around. We believe that only educated and critically thinking people can face the problems of today’s world. Our goal is a society that is built on commitment, democratic principles and principles of humanism.
What motivated you to apply to become an ambassador?
In Živica, I was present at the start of several educational projects, including the “Climate connects us“ project, which has been inspiring municipalities to design and implement elements of adaptation to climate change already for several years. I would like to share our experiences and learn about the experiences of other partners.
How does your work correspond with PLUS Change?
In addition to the mentioned project, in Živica we also deal with environmental, global and climate education, which we see as key for the further sustainable development of society.
What are you looking forward to in the coming years?
I hope to launch new activities and projects supporting climate education.
