PLUS Changers in the Spotlight 6: The ISOCARP Institute

In the sixth edition of our series, PLUS Changers in the Spotlight, we introduce the ISOCARP Institute, an urban think tank based in the Hague.

About

The ISOCARP Institute Centre for Urban Excellence is the research spinoff of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARPP) Society, and specialises in topics related to urbanism, citizen engagement, and capacity-building. The Institute strives to bridge the gap between planning theory and practice, while contributing to knowledge generation and dissemination. Their main objectives include strengthening cross-border collaboration globally; upholding professional excellence in planning; advancing sustainable planning; increasing awareness of major development trends and best practices; and facilitating the generation and dissemination of knowledge for better cities.

Project Role

As the leader of WP6 on Communication, Dissemination, & Exploitation, ISOCARP Institute’s responsibilities encompass communicating project outcomes and linking results to the appropriate audiences in inclusive and innovative ways. Their proficiency in these areas will be instrumental in ensuring the project’s success and its broader impact on diverse communities and stakeholders.

Expectations

ISOCARP Institute is very excited about discovering and gaining a deeper understanding of the various forms of knowledge and perspectives related to land use planning. They are particularly intrigued by the creative outreach programme, Possible Landscapes, and exploring how to use the arts and storytelling methodologies to support processes of data collection and co-creation.

“We are eager to support and facilitate more informed and inclusive decision-making processes, and to empower diverse voices in the PLUS Change process.”
